X Japan Biography

X Japan was formed during the summer of 1982 by Yoshiki and Toshi, when they were still primary school students. The band was called "Dynamite" at the time. It was then renamed to "Noise" and "X" afterwards. By 1987, Hide, Taiji (former bassist), and Pata joined, and the basic structure of the band was formed.

Their first debut album "Vanishing Vision" was released in January, 1988. Many hit songs such as Sadistic Desire, Alive, Kurenai, and Un-finished were included in it. The second album "Blue Blood" released in 1989 was the key to bring X to success. X became one of the most popular rock band in Japan.

31st of January, 1992, Taiji, the former X bassist, announced to leave the band, right after the release of the album "Jealousy". Heath then joined X during August of 1992 to fill up the bassist position. "X" was renamed to "X Japan" during the same year as there was another band named "X" in the U.S.

Their last album, Dahlia, was released 5 year after the album "Jealousy" during 1996. It contains the singles released during the period between 1992 to 1996. The disband of X Japan was announced on 22nd September 1997, 5 months after Toshi quit the band. The reason behind the disband was that Toshi joined a "Self Discovery Simenar". After the disband, Yoshiki asked Toshi if he would join X Japan to sing a last song, Toshi agreed. The last live concert of X Japan was held at Tokyo Dome on 31st December 1997.And that's where it ended.
