26 TV eps + 2 special
Genres: Romantic comedy

Comments: Your typical "average guy surrounded by adoring (and sometimes violent) gorgeous girls" show. Light and fun, with plenty of romance thrown in.

This is yet another entry into the shoujo romantic comedy genre, already laden with quality shows like Kare Kano. So then why is Love Hina one of the most talked about new series in Japan? Already gaining a small but growing fan base here in America, Love Hina may seem like a mere Tenchi/Ranma ripoff, with its central average-looking, male character being the target of many females' affections. Does this mean that Love Hina is trite? Far from it! This series is visually fun to watch, with great site gags, humorous expressions, and light-hearted adventures. It even manages to deal with some important issues, from family affairs to relationship troubles.

The story revolves around Keitaro, an average guy who is an artist and daydreamer, with no real aspirations. 15 years ago, Keitaro and his childhood sweetheart made a promise to meet each other again at Todai University, the most respected and competitive public university in Japan. He arrives in Tokyo, ready for the destined day, and immediately runs into two problems: he doesn't remember the little girl's name or face, and tne Todai entrance exam is hard.

While studying for entrance exams, Keitarou is left in charge of his grandmother's all-girls dormitory. And of course, two of the tenants start could very well be his childhood sweetheart! Keitaro is then introduced to other tenants like the innocent, sweet-tempered Shinobu, Motoko the swordsmaster and man-hater, Su Kaolo the requisite kid genius and the sexy, mischievious Kitsune. This is a very funny series with a sweet central romantic story line.
